I’ll keep it simple. Your essay quietly assumes that motivation cannot exist without experience. But if that were true, AI systems with reinforcement learning would already be conscious.

You try to block that by redefining motivation as “genuine caring.” But now you’re using a word that already presupposes interiority.

That’s circular.

You haven’t eliminated the hard problem. You’re just redescrbiing consciousness in motivational language.

That’s explanatory substitution, not resolution.
